Workshop: Innovative Construction and Planning Processes for Practice
The NCCR DFAB and Innovationspark Siwitzerland Zurich invite builders, architects, engineers, planners, contractors, and end-users to explore the potential of resource-efficient additive manufacturing processes and the associated modern data and information flows.
Objectives:
- Share knowledge and insights
- Promote exchange and collaboration
- Identify potential pilot projects together
Background:
Additive manufacturing methods such as 3D binder jetting allow the use of construction waste (e.g., quarry residues) to create new building products that would otherwise require costly disposal. Over the past seven years, a novel mobile 3D printer has been developed.
Through short presentations, the workshop will introduce both the new manufacturing process and the required software and interface solutions. During the “Data Integration” and “Construction Processes” sessions, participants will work in groups to discuss challenges, solutions, and potential concrete pilot projects.
Agenda:
- 12:00 – 13:00 Optional lunch
- 13:00 – 13:15 Welcome
- 13:15 – 14:30 Presentation & workshop: Data integration and control for seamless digital fabrication workflows (led by Stefan Kraft, Mensch und Maschine Schweiz AG)
- 14:30 – 15:00 Coffee break
- 15:00 – 16:20 Presentation & workshop: 3D stone printing (Pietro Odaglia, ETH Zürich) – This session will be conducted in both English and German
- 16:20 – 16:30 Next steps
- From 16:30 Networking with drinks and snacks
