Project 4D: COMPAS
Project 4D focuses on developing software and computational methods that facilitate and accelerate the adoption of academic research in professional practice. The principal work in this project is the research and development of COMPAS and its specialised DFAB Extensions.
1)Full documentation and tutorialsThe COMPAS framework consists of a core library with all base functionality including integration with Blender, Rhino, implementation of visualisation interface for Grasshopper, and engagement with Python Full documentation and tutorials are available on-line.
2) Core Library: AEC toolboxes
The COMPAS framework consists of a core library with all base functionality and a collection of extensions for specific AEC workflow tasks and topics including IFC, Fabrication, Robotics, Assessment, and Developer packages.
3) COMPAS Association: Dissemination / communication / maintenance
By aligning research-oriented workflows with industry-standard tools and practices, by simplifying the use of all the computational resources at our disposal, and by providing an open source platform for all members of our community to transparently share their work and build upon the work of others COMPAS has become a powerful tool for Digital Fabrication.
