COMPAS_RRC Workshop hosted in Munich
NCCR DFAB alumna Prof. Kathrin Dörfler hosted the COMPAS_RRC workshop at the Technical University of Munich, bringing together experts and partners to advance robotic fabrication. The workshop underscores the increasing adoption of COMPAS_RRC as a key framework for connecting computational design with robotic production.

A five-day workshop on COMPAS_RRC, led by technician Philippe Fleischmann, brought together the Technische Universität München, the COMPAS Association, and partners from ABB Robotics for an intensive exchange on digital fabrication and robotic construction. The initiative emerged from a productive collaboration between NCCR DFAB alumna Prof. Kathrin Dörfler and the NCCR DFAB management team. Experts from several TUM chairs, including Digital Fabrication, Digital Construction, Materials Science, and Robotics, worked closely to examine how parametric design data from Rhino and Grasshopper can be integrated into robotic fabrication. Over the course of the workshop, participants set up the COMPAS_RRC environment and learned how to connect it to ABB robots, directly linking computational design workflows with physical production. What started as a modest idea to make robotic fabrication more accessible grew into a week of focused collaboration, practical experimentation, and shared progress in advancing robotic applications in construction.
