Establishing methods for interdisciplinary collaboration

In June interested NCCR researchers participated in a workshop examining the current approaches to interdisciplinary collaboration within different NCCR research Streams.

The workshop aimed to identify the factors fostering and hindering collaboration in the NCCR by asking researchers to reflect on their experiences with collaboration both internally and with external industry partners. Researchers learned how to define different levels of disciplinarity and discussed which level they would currently judge their collaborative projects to be on.

Researchers described the challenges of assigning roles in projects, managing hierarchies, finding a common language, setting goals and aligning incentives, and creating and maintaining a collaboration workflow.

Additional workshops on available tools and methodologies for collaborations and workflows will be offered to all NCCR researchers.
