Foldcast SlabX: Paper Formworks for Concrete Elements
Conventional formworks are time-consuming, cost-intensive, and wasteful when used for optimised shapes. Prof. Ena Lloret-Fritschi and Fabio Amicarelli from her research group at the Accademia di Architettura - USI have developed a solution. They replace 90% of the conventional formwork material (timber and metal) with paper, a fully recyclable, low-cost, lightweight, and easy-to-shape material. The structurally optimised concrete slab made with paper formwork is called the Foldcast SlabX.
