Swiss National Future Day 2024

The Swiss National Future Day has a long tradition at the NCCR Digital Fabrication. Every year, we invite children aged 10 to 13 to explore the world of digital fabrication together with our researchers and employees. This year, 30 children took part in a short tour of our facilities. They took a look at the laboratories of the Department of Architecture and strolled through the large construction hall of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering. In the concrete laboratory, a technician explained how concrete is actually made. They learnt about different materials that researchers work with, competed against a robot in hammering and had their names written by a UR robot. The day ended with a cantilever construction competition.
