This research underpins the significant body of project work accomplished within the NCCR Digital Fabrication developed using Concrete 3D Printing technologies.

Concrete 3D Printing successfully engages research in experimental architectural design, robotic and mechatronic development, and advancements in concrete material and chemistry control. This pioneering research developed the digital tectonics of robotic additive manufacturing of concrete, and links the microscale of material formulations, the mesoscale of concrete layers, and the macroscale of assemblies from 3D printed building components.

The project is truly interdisciplinary in its engagement of the research groups of Professors Benjamin Dillenburger, Robert Flatt, Walter Kaufmann, Andreas Wieser, Mirko Meboldt, and Agathe Koller (HS Rapperswil), culminating in collaborations such as the Nubian Slab, Concrete Choreography and the upcoming Tor Alva.
