David López López is Assistant Professor at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He was an Academic Guest to the NCCR DFAB at Prof. Dr. Kaufmann’s Chair of Structural Engineering (ETHZ). He gained his Master in Architecture at the School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM, UPM) and his PhD at ETH Zurich within the Block Research Group. He also holds a Master in Technology in Architecture from UPC and a Master in Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions (Universidade do Minho).
His research focuses on the efficient and economic construction of structurally-optimized, form-found shapes and is characterized by an innovative use of traditional construction techniques combined with contemporary tools and technology.
Work Topic
David’s work within the NCCR Digital Fabrication focused on the exploration of optimal design and construction of digitally-fabricated, precast, concrete structures. He continues this topic of research at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)
