Computational Methods
We are developing novel data structures and optimisation algorithms for computational design, spatial assembly optimisation, and robotic construction. We will make these solutions accessible through a formal modelling language tailored to the specific context of work developed within other projects. We will integrate implementations of these methods into COMPAS, an extensive computational platform that is shared across all of our projects, which will be made publicly available to researchers and industry. We aim to advance the state-of-the-art in data structures and optimisation algorithms for complex assemblies, form-finding, structural optimisation, and performance- and material-aware design. We will also develop a methodology that makes these advanced algorithms accessible to practitioners and adaptable and extensible to specific application contexts in order to be ultimately usable in industrial architectural projects.
