Cristian Calvo Barentin was previously a doctoral researcher at the Block Research Group at the Institute of Technology in Architecture, ETH Zurich. He studied architecture at Federico Santa María University, Chile, and received a master's degree in Digital Media Design from the University of Edinburgh. His research interests focus on digital design for sustainable construction, analysis of the environmental impact of building structures, and development of sustainable construction methods. In 2021 he completed his doctoral dissertation "Investigating the environmental opportunities of arched floor systems", and has now moved into a post-doctoral fellowship with Prof. Mark Goulthorpe at MIT.
