Cristian Calvo Barentin is a doctoral researcher at the Block Research Group at the Institute of Technology in Architecture, ETH Zurich. He studied architecture at Federico Santa María University, Chile, and received a master's degree in Digital Media Design from the University of Edinburgh. His research interests focus on digital design for sustainable construction, analysis of the environmental impact of building structures, and development of sustainable construction methods. He participated in the development of the digital fabrication process of the "Armadillo Vault", a masonry vault exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2016. He was also part of the team that designed and fabricated a prototype of a Functionally integrated funicular floor exhibited in Davos during the 2019 World Economic Forum.
