Alumni
Alexandra Ion is an assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Human-Computer Interaction Institute. Before CMU, she was a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich, working with Prof. Olga Sorkine-Hornung and completed her PhD with Prof. Patrick Baudisch at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Germany.
Alex’ work is focused on building interactive design tools that enable digital fabrication of complex shapes and structures.
Work Topic
Her research and expertise lie at the intersection of human-computer interaction, digital fabrication, mechanical engineering and material science. Her work has been published in and awarded by top-tier HCI venues (ACM CHI & UIST), and invited for exhibitions, including a permanent exhibition at the Ars Electronica Center in Austria.
