NCCR DFAB at FABRICATE 2024

A decade after hosting FABRICATE at ETH Zurich in 2014, the NCCR Digital Fabrication has been strongly represented at the FABRICATE 2024 conference in Copenhagen. Hosted by the Centre for Information Technology and Architecture (CITA), at the Royal Danish Academy, FABRICATE 2024 featured presentations from NCCR DFAB Digital Fabrication researchers:

• Alessandro Dell’Endice presented “The Phoenix Bridge" (BRG)
• Kunaljit Chadha and Lauren Vasey showcased “Impact Printing” (GKR)
• Ana Anton presented “Tor Alva” (DBT)

ETH Alumni Masoud Akbarzadeh (BRG) presented the Diamanti 3D-Printed Concrete Canopy, while NCCR DFAB Alumnae Mariana Popescu and Kathrin Dörfler also presented thier current work and were both session moderators and presented past and current work.

Additional NCCR DFAB related projects included Prōtóplasto (DBT) and KnitNervi (BRG).

With the theme "Creating Resourceful Futures," the two-day conference attracted over 360 delegates from 30 countries and 100 affiliations. Emphasizing sustainable design, materials, and processes, the event showcased projects addressing construction's environmental impact. The conference proceedings, along with these projects, are documented in the FABRICATE 2024 publication.
