Thomas Wehrle is a timber construction specialist and CTO at ERNE AG Holzbau. He and his team are doing research on digital fabrication, parametrics and robotic prototyping. In 2014, he expanded the production at ERNE AG Holzbau with a 7-axis portal robot - currently the largest robotic manufacturing plant in Europe in the construction industry. Thomas Wehrle was employed as a Researcher-in-Residence in the NCCR Digital Fabrication from October 2016 to March 2018 and was involved in the development of the DFAB House in NEST, the modular research and innovation building of Empa and Eawag in Dübendorf. Since 2009, he has been working on the topic of digitization at ERNE AG Holzbau, where he is trying to examine the handling of data and models throughout the entire construction process and to map it using digital methods.
