Thomas Kohlhammer studied engineering and architecture at the University of Stuttgart. After his studies, he worked as a research and teaching assistant for Prof. Dr. Joseph Schwartz at the Chair of Structural Design of ETH Zurich where in 2013 he obtained his doctorate. Concurrently he was engaged in several offices in Stuttgart and Zurich. Thomas Kohlhammer then worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the project “Complex Timber Structures” at the Chair of Architecture and Digital Fabrication of ETH Zurich and in 2016 on the project “Design and Robotic Assembly of Complex Lightweight structures” within the NCCR Digital Fabrication. Since 2009 he is a lecturer in structural design at the Department of Architecture at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
