Alumni
Andrew Liew completed his Master in Civil Engineering at the Imperial College London, UK, focusing on structural design, mechanics, dynamics and computational engineering analysis and his PhD on the analysis of structural steel elements. As a structural engineer at Arup in London, he worked on the redevelopment of King’s Cross in London and York University metro station in Toronto. Previously, he was as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Structural Engineering at ETH Zurich and in the Block Research Group. Andrew now works in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield (UK). His research in structural mechanics and optimisation uses expertise and modern testing facilities at the Integrated Civil and Infrastructure Research (ICAIR) Centre to collaborate with the UK's construction industry.
