Dr. Matthias Leschok is co-founder and COO of SAEKI Robotics AG, an ETH Zurich spin-off developing automated micro-factories for large-scale robotic fabrication in the construction industry. He received his doctorate in 2024 from the chair for Digital Building Technologies at ETH Zurich, with a thesis introducing Hollow-Core 3D Printing (HC3DP) — a patented polymer-based additive manufacturing process for lightweight, high-performance building envelopes. His research bridges architecture, material science, building physics, and structural engineering. He holds a Dipl. Ing. (with distinction) from KIT and a MAS in Architecture and Digital Fabrication from ETH Zurich. His current work connects academic research with industrial deployment, exploring how computational design, robotics, and material intelligence reshape construction.
Work Topic
Facades drive a large share of construction material use and building energy demand. Hollow-Core 3D Printing (HC3DP) integrates structural, thermal, and optical functions directly at the fabrication level, producing lightweight, material-efficient envelopes. Current work translates the technology from research into industrial production.
