Andrei Jipa

Andrei Jipa is a doctoral student with Digital Building Technologies. He studied architecture at the Ion Mincu University in Bucharest, the University of Sheffield and the University of Westminster in London. After his diploma, he founded jamD, a digital fabrication and parametric design studio based in London and taught Computational Design to MArch and MSc students at the University of Westminster. His current research focuses on 3D-printed formwork for functional concrete building components.

Work Topic

3D printing, a novel digital fabrication process, is used for making complex formwork (Free Formwork). Two different 3D printing technologies, binder jetting and fused deposition modelling are investigated in parallel.
